Hey All!
So this past Tuesday, Sep. 27th, we had the first club meeting at the Claremont Colleges. For those that didn’t make it we talked about what the club does/its purpose, who we are, and future opportunities for club members/ volunteers (all info is under tabs @ top page). Here is a link to our meeting minutes: https://docs.google.com/document/d/12AFGhxxBzaPTJ0gBgG8463KOCenWxS36lhDqH0H4h3I/edit?hl=en_US.
We decided that those interesting in gleaning only would only have to get email about dates of gleans and other updates. Those that are interested in helping with outreach and getting the word out could go to outreach team meetings. In reality, we are all very busy people
So however much time and/or effort you are willing to put in is great!
The next meeting is next Tuesday, Oct. 4th 9pm in Walker’s Lounge on Pomona College campus. It is primarily focusing on outreach, but if you want to learn more of what we are doing, we will gladly answer any questions you may have.

Thanks to Beth’s generosity, we gleaned 400 pounds of pomegranates and some asian pears! Students from Scripps College, Pomona College and Damien High School provided their help.
Hello friends!
Gleaning Hope is entering a new phase under the leadership of Eliza and Arikai, two students at the Claremont Colleges. We are working with students at Damien High School in La Verne to coordinate gleans and add more fruit donors to our database. And, of course, the Inland Valley Hope Partners! We wish Ron the best at GWU Medical School!
We will be updating the site more often and keeping everyone up to date about our activities.
Based on the page below, there are plenty of fruits in season right now. If you know anyone in the Inland Valley with these fruit trees in their yard, please tell us!

Greetings Gleaning Hope Followers!
Guess what? On April 30, 2011, Pomona College volunteered for Gleaning Hope and salvaged over 500 lbs of fresh oranges from the Howell residence! There were so many oranges that we had to use our Inland Valley Hope Partner truck to bring the fresh fruits to our food pantries.
Check out our pictures of the volunteers gleaning!
Contact me if you would like your fruits gleaned or know others that would!
Cheers

Greetings fellow fruit lovers!
Good news here at Inland Valley Hope Partners, on March 17, 2011, the Hofstad family in Claremont donated over 400 pounds of oranges!!
We had our volunteers from the Claremont Colleges team up with Inland Valley Hope Partners to glean these fruits. Check out how much fun we had in these pictures!
As you can tell, we were on a slope so we did not have the chance to take our traditional “HOPE” picture. But, the last picture definitely shows that we had just as much fun. Equally as important, each and every orange we gleaned went directly to our Claremont and Pomona food pantries for families that are in need of healthy nutrition!
Thanks again to our Claremont College Volunteers and special thanks to the generous and wonderful Hofstad family!
Cheers

Greetings everyone! Well, at the end of February, GleaningHOPE teamed up with volunteers from Pomona College. Together, we gleaned 200 pounds of lemons and tangerines from Ms. Young’s household in Claremont, CA!
These fruits went directly to our food pantry in Claremont to provide the homeless and disadvantaged people of our communities with healthy nutrition. Check out the pictures of Pomona College’s volunteers gleaning some fruits!
Everyone here at Inland Valley Hope Partners is very enthusiastic to see our GleaningHOPE initiative make a difference in our communities! If you happen to have any fruits that you would like to donate–please contact us and we would be glad to glean them for you! Hope to hear from you soon =]

Greetings everyone!
Well, at the start of 2011, we here at Inland Valley Hope Partners officially launched our gleaning initiative known as GleaningHOPE! For those of you who do not know what gleaning is, I will explain briefly.
The main point of gleaning is to salvage foods that normally would not be consumed. They are then to be redistributed to other people in the community that would gladly accept these foods.
With that said, the mission of GleaningHOPE is to salvage fresh fruits and vegetables from our neighboring communities, and send them directly to our Hope Partner food banks in Claremont, San Dimas, Ontario, and Pomona. This will provide the homeless and hungry of our service areas with healthy nutrition that they often do not have any access towards.
————————————————————————————————–
Now, since we all have been formally introduced, I would like to let you all know about the success of Inland Valley Hope Partners first ever glean! On January 20, 2011, I went with three other very committed volunteers to a household in Claremont, CA that had several large orange trees. After about two hours of gleaning, we were able to salvage over 300 pounds of oranges!
These oranges were then immediately sent to our Hope Partner food pantry in Claremont which fortunately provided approximately 30 families with wonderful oranges for a week!
Here are some pictures from our first glean:
Special thanks to the Inland Valley Hope Partners amazing staff, the generous volunteer gleaners, and especially you all reading this for your support!
If you have any fresh fruits and vegetables in your backyard or community that you would like to donate, please let us know! Inland Valley Hope Partners– Gleaning Crew– would be more than glad to travel to your place and glean your fruits and vegetables. Your food donations would most definitely be provided to the homeless and hungry, and would be very much appreciated by those in need!
Contact me, Ronald Ortizo, if you have any fruits or vegetables that you would like to donate:
